Code of Conduct for States Members

It has been brought to my attention that there seems to be a lack of clarity with regard to the Code of Conduct for States Members which was brought into force on 17th April 2014, having been passed by the States of Alderney at its meeting on 16th April 2014.

For the record I wish to point out the following:-

1. Actions under the Code of Conduct can only be instigated when a complaint has been received. It is not within the Presidents remit to initiate proceedings under the Code of Conduct.

2. Any complaints received regarding States Members' conduct will be dealt with according to the procedures as detailed in the Code of Conduct, and within the law.

3. I do not opine on States Members' behaviour as to do so may prejudice any subsequent matters that may arise from them.
