2014 - Dylan Thomas 100th Anniversary of his birth

Dylan Thomas

1914 saw the birth of one of the United Kingdom's best known writers and poets.  Dylan Thomas remains a literary great in both his homeland of Wales and throughout the world and his works are still widely read and performed internationally.

To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, and to celebrate his inspirational talent, Alderney, in conjunction with the Royal Mint, has issued these coins which feature a portrait of Dylan Thomas surrounded with ferns, which allude to one of his many well known works, Fern Hill.  The design has been produced by Royal Mint designer, Lee R Jones

The obverse of the coin depicts an image of Her Majesty the Queen by Ian Rank- Broadley FRBS.
