Land Use Plan Review 2017
The Building and Development Control Committee have today published draft Economic Development, Natural Environment and Built Environment and Heritage Strategies as part of the Land Use Plan 2017.
Their preparation has required many months work by ARUP with the input of local stakeholders, the Alderney Wildlife Trust, the Alderney Society, the Guernsey Museums Service, and the Planning Office with the help of several local individuals.
These three Strategies are part of the 'evidence base' which, along with responses to the call for sites, will inform the final part of the Land Use Plan. This is due to be published for public comment towards the end of May 2017 followed by a Public Inquiry in late summer. Phase 1 of the land Use Plan, established a vision for the Island and its approach to housing. It was approved by the States in July 2016 after a Public Inquiry. Phase 2 aims to complete the LUP by the autumn of 2017.
The recommendations will effect planning policy and practice and help translate the States economic policies into spatial terms for the Land Use Plan.
The draft strategies and a summary of each has been published on the States website, available to view from various places such as the Planning Office, General Office and Library and printed copies are available on request from the Planning Office.
