Press Release - Connaught Phase 2

Phase Two of £1.9m Connaught Care Home project to start in March

With Connaught Care Home's loft conversion almost complete, States of Alderney Members have given the green light for the next phase - groundwork for the new extension.

Subject to final approval by the full States and Guernsey's Policy & Resources, the £400,000 Phase Two work on the grounds and substructure for the proposed extension will start in mid-March.

Phase Two includes piling, foundations, drainage and work to the home's ground floor and boundary walls. It will take around five months to complete.

Alderney's Policy & Finance Committee also recommended full States approval for the £1.3m Phase Three funding for an extension to provide 13 additional residential rooms for long term or respite care together with communal spaces, clinic rooms, offices and other facilities.

It is expected that the entire £1.88m project will be completed early 2021.

Apart from the Mignot Memorial Hospital, which provides 14 long-term nursing care beds and eight acute beds, the Connaught is the only facility to provide professional residential care.
