Press Release - Homecoming Day

States of Alderney Members have voted that December 15th should be a day of Homecoming remembrance and celebration irrespective of the day on which it falls.

When the 15th falls midweek, the day will be a public holiday but when it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Monday will be a public holiday although proceedings will be confined to the actual Homecoming Day.

Public consultation indicated a consensus that the date itself was sacrosanct but a substantial number of those responding did not want to forgo a public holiday if the 15th fell on a weekend.
