Pontoon use

Dear all,

It has been brought to our attention that a number of boat owners are using the dinghy pontoon as a permanent berth for their tenders. I would like to take this opportunity to remind all boat owners of the conditions for use of the States of Alderney dinghy pontoon:

1.       The maximum permitted stay is 8 hours.

2.       The maximum size of vessel permitted to moor on the pontoon is 4 meters.

3.       Tenders without and allocated mooring should be recovered to the slipway when not in use.

4.       Vessels which are seen to be incorrectly moored and/or causing obstruction will be removed.

Any vessel found to be in breach of these conditions will be towed to a vacant mooring to await collection by the owner.

In order to discourage the congestion of the pontoon, the Harbour Authority will be offering the water taxi service to local mooring holders free of charge.
