States of Guernsey Press Release

Cluster of infections identified in the Mignot Memorial Hospital

Four cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mignot Memorial Hospital in Alderney. The cases have been identified in two staff and two patients.

Contact tracing has already started, and the hospital will be closed to visitors for the time being. End of life care visits can be arranged, and these visits will be facilitated through a combination of lateral flow testing and the wearing of PPE.

All staff and patients are now being tested daily with lateral flow devices. Staff who are critical to the running of the hospital are continuing to work but are subject to the necessary COVID-19 risk assessments and testing. Staff will all, therefore, be working in PPE.

The situation in the hospital is evolving and will be monitored over the weekend. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
