Gas Safe service available in Alderney
The Island's General Services Committee (GSC) have secured travel funding to enable a Gas Safe Registered engineer to provide a domestic service in Alderney.
The Gas Safe Register, a measure of standardised competency, replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in the UK in 2009 and in Guernsey in 2010.
Although there is no law in Alderney that states a Gas Safe plumber is required for the legitimate servicing and repair of residential and commercial gas appliances such as cookers and gas central heating, safety was GSC's chief priority.
Residents requiring a Gas Safe Registered engineer (domestic appliances only) are asked to download a proforma from the States of Alderney website (www.alderney.gov.gg > Services > Utilities > Gas) and email it to A1 Gas a1gasgsy@gmail.com. Anyone who cannot access or download the form can obtain a copy from Island Hall's General Office who will then email it to A1 Gas on their behalf.
The form requires the name and contact details of the person requesting the service together with the type of work required and preferred date and time of the visit. A1 Gas will then contact the service requester directly. This contract is between the customer and the service provider, not the States.
