Date: 10th May 2024

Alderney Airport planning application to be considered on May 30th 2024

A planning application to rebuild and extend the runway at Alderney Airport, together with a new passenger terminal and fire station, goes before the Building & Development Control Committee (BDCC) on May 30th (2.15pm).

A detailed report by officers will be available from May 15th ahead of the BDCC meeting at the Island Hall's Anne French Room. The report and background papers will be published on the States of Alderney website and copies will be available to the public to view at the Planning Office during normal business hours.

The application seeks permission for the reconstruction, lengthening and widening of the current asphalt runway, reconfiguration of the Bravo taxiway and resurfacing of the apron area. New aerodrome ground approach lighting and drainage are included along with the construction of new terminal and fire station buildings.

The Planning Office's priority focus has been on the detailed application since it was submitted at the end of last year by infrastructure consultants AECOM on behalf of Guernsey Ports, along with a subsequent environmental assessment report.

The limited resources available to Alderney's Planning Office means this has delayed some routine planning matters. BDCC will resume regular applications at its June meeting although most current applications are expected to be delayed until July 25th.
