Official statistics for Alderney are compiled by the States of Guernsey Data & Analysis team, details of the statistics provided can be found below. All reports use data sourced from the Rolling Electronic Census, an award winning IT system completed in late 2014, which collates demographic, employment and economic data from several separate States of Guernsey databases.
Population
The Alderney Electronic Census Report is published annually and provides headline information on the population of Alderney at 31st March.At the end of March 2022, Alderney's population was 2,141.
The population increased by 2.0% (43 people) over the year ending 31st March 2022.
There was a natural decrease of 15 people and net migration of 58 people over the year ending 31st March 2022.
Employment
The Alderney Employment Bulletin is published annually and provides headline information on employment at 31st March.There was an increase of 1.6% in the number of people either employed or self-employed for the year ending 31st March 2022.
The number of employed people increased by 3.7% and the number of self-employed decreased by 6.8%.
Earnings
The Alderney Earnings Bulletin is published annually and provides headline information on median earnings at 31st December.Median earnings increased by 4.6% between the year ending December 2020 and the year ending December 2021, from £26,016 to £27,220.
Household Income
The Alderney Household Income Report provides a profile of household incomes.The overall mean household income after deduction of social security contributions, income tax and imputed housing costs (equivalised) was £31,798 (£611 per week) and the overall median was £26,446 (£509 per week) in 2017.
