Chief Executive - Recruitment Update

An Appointment Board has been set up by the Policy & Finance Committee to select the next Chief Executive of the States of Alderney.

The Chairman is Ian Carter and the Board includes Bill Abel, Alex Snowdon, Annie Burgess and the President William Tate.

Ian Carter commented "We are interviewing a number of candidates in the week commencing 8th February and in the meantime we are remaining in contact with Guernsey Chief Executive, Paul Whitfield over the alternative of a secondment." The Chairman added "We are optimistic we will be able to find the right person for this critical role of leading the civil service and supporting the Committees. Due to the pandemic the interviews will all be conducted through the video conferencing tool of Microsoft Teams. This is unusual but we all have to make practical adjustments in these challenging times."

All States Members will be given the opportunity to meet the candidates, albeit virtually, over Teams.

The Board will make its decision following the interviews and thereafter put its recommendation to the Lieutenant Governor who, under the Government of Alderney Law, has to confirm his approval.
