Alderney extends commemorative coin contract

Alderney's Policy & Finance Committee (P&F) has agreed to a one-year extension to its commemorative coin contract with The Commonwealth Mint that was due to expire at the end of March 2022.

The Commonwealth Mint contract was awarded in 2017 following a competitive tender process.

Alderney coins are eagerly anticipated by numismatic collectors and are distributed by leading UK coin retailers with listings in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and North America.

P&F decided that an extension would provide continuity in a difficult period with some important coin issues planned in 2022. A full tender exercise will then be necessary so that the States can demonstrate that it is acting in the best interests of the Island's taxpayers.
