GSC Members given specific areas of responsibility for running Alderney
The States of Alderney committee responsible for the smooth running of the Island has given each of its five Members a specific area of duty.
The General Services Committee (GSC) wants to provide Islanders with a 'first port of call' for concerns relating to such matters as the harbour, roads, property and the environment.
New Chairman Lin Maurice, who announced on her election at the States meeting that she wants Alderney 'to run like clockwork', has confirmed the following areas of responsibility:
• Lin Maurice: Harbour and Fisheries; Transport and Traffic; Emergency Services; and
local Police Liaison.
• Bruce Woodhead: Braye Opportunity Area (with Bill Abel); Water and Sewerage;
and States Properties (with Ian Carter, who has also been named Chairman of the
Finance Committee).
• Bill Abel: Waste Disposal, Dumps and Derelicts; Recreation, Campsite and Island Hall
functions.
• Steve Roberts: Agriculture and Open Areas; Wildlife including Burhou island.
Residents wishing to speak with an elected Member about any of the above matters can find their contact details at http://www.alderney.gov.gg/article/171208/Your-States-Members.
