Connaught Care Home 'not for sale'

Following further speculation circulating in the community, Alderney's senior politician has stressed that the Connaught Care Home is not up for sale.

Last week Nigel Vooght, Chair of the Policy & Finance Committee confirmed the States of Alderney had been approached by a provider interested in looking at care provision on Alderney.

"This was simply an exploratory approach and as a responsible government we are open to hearing from the private sector in respect of any States service where a different approach might be beneficial to us," he said following further rumour in the community.

"We have not discussed the sale of the Connaught. The home is not up for sale and never has been. We have consulted with the Connaught Care Home Board on this preliminary expression of interest and we will keep the Board fully engaged should any discussions progress."
