States of Alderney appoints a new Vice President and elects Committee Chairs for 2024

The States of Alderney has appointed Ian Carter, a former headmaster in his fourth year as an elected Member, as Vice President to deputise when William Tate is unavailable.

Mr Carter replaces long-standing Member Steve Roberts who was Vice President throughout 2023.

Committee Chairs and membership for 2024 are:

• Policy & Finance: Nigel Vooght (Chair, re-elected), all 10 Members.
• General Services Committee: Lin Maurice (Chair, re-elected), Derwent Smithhurst, Steve Roberts, Bill Abel, Ian Carter.
• Building & Development Control: Kevin Gentle (Chair, re-elected), Ian Carter, Boyd Kelly, Alex Snowdon, Bruce Woodhead.
• Economic Development: Alex Snowdon (Chair, re-elected), Boyd Kelly, Bruce Woodhead, Derwent Smithurst, Ian Carter, Bill Abel, Steve Roberts.

Alex Snowdon and Steve Roberts continue to serve as Alderney Representatives to the Guernsey States of Deliberation.

Boyd Kelly, Ian Carter and Lin Maurice were appointed to the Management Committee of the Alderney branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. The President is ex-officio Chairman.

Mr Carter continues as the States' Representative on the St Anne's School Management Committee and was also appointed to continue on the Alderney Care Board along with Mr Kelly.
