Pre-season update for Alderney Harbour Users

With spring finally upon us it is time to give Harbour Users a brief update on where we are with our pre-season programme and what they can expect to see over the next month or so.

Pontoons - The engineering work replacing the shoreside structures which anchor the dinghy pontoon is nearing completion and should have no impact on the introduction of facilities. The inner pontoon section and walkway is currently scheduled for lifting in during the first week of April. The passenger landing section is expected to be lifted in at the same time, however the weather will dictate its availability.

Harbour staff will monitor the weather in lead up to all deadlines and assess whether conditions are suitable for specific sections to be introduced at this early stage of the season. The outer sections will be added according to demand as the season progresses.
Water taxi - The Water taxi service will commence operations on Friday April 12th with a limited weekend only service being provided during the earlier months of the season.

Mooring maintenance work - The servicing of all outer Harbour Moorings is due to commence on April 3rd. The diving and servicing works will take approximately 14 days to complete; during this time Crane activity will be restricted to cargo discharge activity and essential lifts only to ensure that the project does not suffer unnecessary delays. Any mooring holders who have not already recovered warps and tackle from their allocated mooring buoy may contact the Harbour Office to arrange collection or make an enquiry.

Harbour Showers - Due to ongoing renovation works, it is anticipated that there will be a minor delay in the opening of the Harbour Showers. The shower block should be open as usual before the end of April.
